INDIEGRAPH.WEBSTARTS.COM . . . . SWEET!

After following a whole ton of indie game news sites for the good part of two years, I’m come to a conclusion: getting featured in one of those things is HARD. As in, harder than if you were making an AAA game. The reason? There are tons of indies out there. For every Braid there are a dozen who wither and fade away from memory. Getting spotlighted in the indie scene is as much about marketing and connections as anything else. I experienced this first hand when trying to capture some of the limelight for the Maze.

So I, to wit, Yudhanjaya Wijeratne, am going to start up my own site: INDIEGRAPH. I’ll be covering the small fish: I’ll take the little guys at game maker communities and so on, doing my best in my own way. It’ll take some while for hits to come in but good content will out. Games that deserve attention should get it, no matter how unknown the developer is. Come on, people. The whole spirit of indie is about getting out there, totally unknown, and making awesome games: what’s the point if you need to sleep with the editors to get said games noted in the press?
So for the past three hours, that is precisely what I’ve been doing. The search for a good host took up most of my time – until I settles on webstarts.com, which is awesome. It’s probably the most versatile website creation tool I’ve come across.  And free, which is good: I’m poor. 😀

So far – I’ve messed with blog entries, thrown them out, and set up quite a decent stock site [indiegraph.webstarts.com]. Let’s see where this goes!
