No, seriously. I shall never be fed up of the Maze, but never in my life have I released so many patches / updates for anything I made. I’m working on the 6’th update. On one hand, discovering a bug so far out in the game’s launch – [in this case a rather annoying case of a recurring level; Game Maker’s chance logic apparently defies as sane expression] is like being hit on the head with a blunt pickaxe. After 580 downloads you discover that what you’ve shipped has been bugged deep, deep down. Oh, shit.
On the other hand, it’s been one hell of an education, bugfixing. What I’ve discovered so far: I’m good at writing and building up good gameplay and graphics; I suck when it comes to beta testing. The most important lesson from the Maze: test, test, test, even if you’re sick of it. Grab people and force them to test. Torture them if you have to. Getting a good, bug-free game out is the only thing that matters.
Bug fixing has also upped my technical level, because I keep learning better code to replace poor-performing old versions. With the Maze, I learned about loading textures, spreading epic lag over hundreds of parts of the game so as to make it unnoticeable, anda lot about physics in GM. So far, the good > bad.
If bad > good

screw it all
