It’s T20 cricket fever here. I must confess: I don’t watch cricket. I watch League of Legends, DOTA tournaments and COD matches instead. Why? Because as entertaining as the country-vs-country physical sport is, there’s too much politics, racism and whatnot for me to prefer it over esports. Welcome, on the other hand, to the battlefield of Starcraft 2, where it doesn’t matter what religion you follow or what country you come from: all that matters is your name and your clan tag.
Yes, I admit I was disillusioned after the last World Cup. Not to mention the fact that cricketeers play much better in the IPL (where there’s more money and hotter chicks) than they ever do for their own country. Given a choice between a cricket match and a DOTA match, I’ll go watch DOTA any day. Sure, they fight for the same things – money, international rep, country, values, playstyles – but at the end of the day there’s a damn sight less politics and a great deal more enjoyable playing.
Oh, yeah, and Fnatic doesn’t do cricket.
